These papers were collated by George Fitzherbert immediately following the incident.
Historical Note
The Van Aelst Island incident proper occurred over three days in October 20–, while initial events leading to the incident occurred as early as August of the same year. The official report contains a detailed account of the incident and its possible connections to similar intrusions.
Scope and Content Note
The collection contains diaries, notes, correspondence, audiotapes, telephone call transcripts, and press cuttings relating to the incident.
